Pre-Fab Steel

Since 1985, the steel pre-fab tank industry has flourished so much that it is now the automatic choice for almost every land owner requiring water storage. The years have seen many changes, improvements and advances to the industry - all of which mean greater benefits to the end user.

But through all this there has been a common thread - that of strength and versatility. Many local shire councils are now demanding Engineer Certification for strength on all water tanks being installed.

Ebenezer Water therefore recommends and supplies tanks with fully corrugated walls simply because of the superior strength this profile offers. Each corrugation acts as a strengthening rib, therefore providing greater stability than tanks with flatter wall panels.

With all the major advances in technology, there are still some things that cannot be improved upon. Corrugated water tanks in Australia have been around for over 150 years -and still going strong! Only something with excellent - not necessarily new - technology is going to survive for that long!

Zincalume is used extensively in preference to galvanised for the manufacture of these tanks. BHP stated many years ago that they expect Zincalume to have up to 4 times the life expectancy in this application - i.e. intermittently wet and dry. It is generally recognised that the old galvanised water tanks are still working well after 15 years, so with Zincalume II having "4 times" the life, we know your tank will last a lifetime.


The life expectancy is further enhanced when used in conjunction with our sacrificial anodes to protect the steel in contact with the ground. The magnesium anodes are designed to provide cathodic protection against corrosion.

The water is contained within the corrugated walls with a totally safe, single layer Polyethylene internal liner.

This is an important feature because Polyethylene is totally inert which means there is no leaching of plasticisers and contaminants into the stored water. You will not get a plastic taste to your water and therefore your family's health is protected.

HYDROSTORE ™ was chosen after very careful and considered analyses of its performance compared to other liner materials.

The Australian Water Quality Centre has carried out rigorous testing and evaluation of Hydrostore's performance and passed it with flying colours. It surpasses the current Australian standards of AS3855 and AS4020.

The standard requires that products do not affect the taste or appearance of water; do not support the growth of micro-organisms; and do not release cytoxic or mutagenic compounds or metals.

The liner is manufactured into the correct shape and then suspended from the tank walls. It is made larger than the actual tank so that it can mould into the corrugations for total support and strength.

Aquaplate

Combining the strength of steel with the protection of Poly - that's the AQUAPLATE advantage.

Developed in the mid 80's, BHP Steel Sheet & Coil Products Division developed Aquaplate specifically for the fabrication of water tanks.

Available in sizes up to 22,500 litres, Aquaplate has a tough food grade polymer lining bonded to a corrosion resistant steel base, providing a protective barrier from the inside. No matter how saline or corrosive the water may be, long life for your water tank is assured. So much so that BHP offers a 15-year warranty against corrosion to perforation.

Aquaplate is manufactured in the traditional corrugated profile and available in a choice of 3 finishes including....

Poly Tanks

Polyethylene tanks have proved to be a winner with total corrosion resistance and a robust nature for many years.

The polyethylene is UV stabilised to withstand the elements, as well as being durable and impact resistant for long life. The fully corrugated profile not only provides wonderful strength, but also gives a great traditional heritage appearance.

Available in a range of up to 32,000 litres and a variety of different colours, the tanks are Western Australian made using only Australian produced polyethylene rather than cheaper imported raw material.

They are made in a one piece construction and supplied with brass inlet and outlet fittings and a lockable manhole cover. They come with a 20 year manufacturer's warranty.
